Transfer of NSW property
The transfer of property in New South Wales is the process of conveying ownership of a property from one party to another. There are many reasons why you may be required to register a Transfer of Land on title if you are not buying or selling property.
These can include:
Transfer between partners
Transfer between family members i.e. parents, grandparents, children, siblings.
Transfer for Deceased Estates to a surviving party.
Shares in the title are to be changed.
Adding or removing a registered party on title
When transferring a property, it’s important to understand the costs, legal and tax implications of all parties involved. Depending on your circumstance and who you’re transferring the property with, a duty transfer exemption may apply to you. Exemptions can apply to married couples, family members and people in a de-facto relationship.
When you don’t work in conveyancing, it can be extremely challenging to navigate the complexities of legal property transfer.
